Kelli Standekar
SKATING DIRECTOR
Kelli comes to Steamboat Springs from Alabama. She grew up dancing and swimming in Phoenix, AZ. She also did competitive cheerleading and was in many musical theatre shows ranging from small community theatre productions to larger company productions. In high school, she was involved in show choir and musical theatre while continuing to dance 7 days a week. She also became involved in film acting and was featured in some commercials and independent films. At the age of 17, Kelli started skating in addition to dance and found a passion she never knew she had. After skating for 3 years, Kelli was asked to start coaching Learn to Skate. She coached competitive skaters from Basic 1 to Preliminary and cultivated her coaching technique by learning from a Masters level coach. She also helped start a Synchronized Skating Program and was the head synchro coach for the OKC Twisters. In college, Kelli studied musical theatre and piano before changing to nursing. Post-college, Kelli worked as a nurse and went back to school for her Master’s Degree, becoming a certified Nurse Practitioner.
Since coming to Steamboat Springs, Kelli has worked with the Steamboat Skating Club to streamline the figure skating program. She was thrilled when she was asked to be the Skating Director for the Steamboat Skating Club. Kelli teaches both private and group lessons in Skating Skills and Figure Skating Singles in addition to all Learn to Skate levels.
