Introduction to Figure Skating

The Steamboat Skating Club provides a structured progression for skaters who have finished the City of Steamboat Springs Learn to Skate Basic 3 Program to join our club. Our Introduction to Figure Skating Program aims to enhance their figure skating skills and familiarize them with our club's structure. Upon completion of the program, skaters are invited to join our full-season participants and further their journey in figure skating.

Ages

Skaters who are at least five years old and have completed Basic 1, 2, and 3 in the City of Steamboat Springs Learn to Skate Program are eligible to participate in the Introduction to Figure Skating Program.

When

The Introduction to Figure Skating course is available in three separate sessions each year.

Fall Session: August 25th, 2024, through December 15th, 2025

Spring Session: January 5th, 2025, through May 25th, 2025

Summer Session: June 17th, 2025, through August 19th, 2025

Cost

The cost for the Introduction to Figure Skating can be paid in one flat rate or divided into installments. The cost is based on the number of weeks in each session.

Fall Session: $440

Spring Session: $440

Summer Session: $300

Where

Introduction to Figure Skating classes take place at the Howelsen Ice Arena.


Introduction to Figure Skating is held on Sunday evenings for the fall and spring sessions. For the summer session classes are held on Tuesday afternoons.

Class Schedule

Sunday Schedule:

4:45-5:00pm independent practice

5:00-5:30pm 30 minutes of group instruction


Tuesday Schedule (Summer Only):

4:00-4:30pm 30 minutes of group instructions

4:30-5:00pm independent practice

Ice Show

Skaters enrolled in our Introduction to Figure Skating Program during the spring session are eligible to participate alongside our year-round skaters in the spring ice show.

Please note, there is a separate registration fee for the Spring show.

Dress Code

All skaters need to wear tight fitting clothing. It is recommended that all skaters wear a jacket and gloves. Hair MUST be pulled back securely away from the face.

No skaters will be allowed on the ice in jeans or shorts.

Extra Benefits

Every participant in the Introduction to Figure Skating program will be granted a complimentary USFSA Learn to Skate Membership upon registration.
