2024-2025 Season Skating

The Steamboat Skating Club organizes team training into various skill level groups. This structure enables coaches to provide targeted instruction in smaller settings, ensuring that skaters receive guidance that is both suitable and safe. This season, we are adopting the level names established by the United States Figure Skating Association, aiming to align our program with the broader national skating community. The following are the levels as skaters advance through the program.

Ages

Skater must be 5 years old or older.

All skaters new to Intro to Figure Skating need to have passed the City of Steamboat Springs Learn to Skate Program or an equivalent Learn to Skate Basic 3 Program prior to enrolling. Those who enroll without passing a Basic 3 program will be re-directed to the Steamboat Springs Learn to Skate Program.

When

Our 2024-2025 season skating runs from August 25th, 2024, through May 25th, 2025.

events

Throughout the 2024-2025 season there are a few events that skaters are encouraged to participate in.

Team building parties: These parties are normally every 3 months.

Fundraisers: We have two fundraisers in the fall, Fright Night on Ice and Skate with the Grinch. Fright Night on Ice will include an exhibition this year.

Spring Ice Show: Rehearsals start after winter break with our show in March. This is the biggest performance for the club each year.

Practices

The Steamboat Skating Club has ice time on Thursday afternoons from 4-5pm, on Sunday afternoons from 3-5:30 and on biweekly Wednesday mornings from 6:30-7:30am.

Each level has their own on and off ice training schedules.

Dress Code

All skaters need to wear tight fitting clothing. It is recommended that all skaters wear a jacket and gloves. Hair MUST be pulled back securely away from the face.

No skaters will be allowed on the ice in jeans or shorts.

work deposit

Every skater in registered for season skating will be charged a work deposit based on the number of volunteer hours required at their level. If all volunteer hours are completed by the end of the season this will be rolled over to the following season (or returned to the family if the skater doesn't return for the following season).

Ice show cast members will have additional volunteer requirements.

Extra Costs

All skaters are required to have an active Learn to Skate or USFSA membership. Intro skaters get their Learn to Skate membership included in their monthly costs. All other skaters will be charged a USFSA membership fee upon registration after July 1st each year.
