2024 Summer Skating
The Steamboat Skating Club team training is divided into different color groups. Skaters are placed in each group based on their skill level. Below is the pipeline of how the color groups progress based on the United States Figure Skating Association level system.
All club levels, including intro, are encouraged to take group lessons in the summer. Skaters get a report card at the end of the summer that indicates the suitable group for them in the next season.
Ages
Skater must be 4 years old or older.
All skaters new to Intro to Figure Skating need to have passed the City of Steamboat Springs Learn to Skate Program or an equivalent Learn to Skate Basic 3 Program prior to enrolling. Those who enroll without passing a Basic 3 program will be re-directed to the Steamboat Springs Learn to Skate Program.

All skaters need to wear tight fitting clothing. It is recommended that all skaters wear a jacket and gloves. Hair MUST be pulled back securely away from the face.
No skaters will be allowed on the ice in jeans or shorts.
Extra Costs

Individual Group Schedule
Accelerated Skating School
The Steamboat Skating Club is offering a new summer program for advanced skaters in Yellow Group and higher. This program will help skaters improve their skills with extra ice sessions and specialized group lessons. The program includes additional ice times on Mondays from 3-4pm and Wednesdays from 4-5pm, as well as more off-ice classes. More details will be provided to registered skaters.
This program requires at least 8 skaters to sign up before summer skating begins. It is an extra program that is only available to skaters who have enrolled in regular summer skating.
Summer Punch Card
For a more flexible, build-your-own, summer skating experience, purchase a punch card instead of registering for a summer session. Punch cards give your skater the option to drop in for skating classes anytime throughout the summer.
Accelerated Skating School
This is an extra program for skaters who would like a more intensive summer training schedule. Skaters must be in Yellow Group or above for this program AND must be registered for regular summer programming.
